Idea: Grocycle urban mushroom farm

Introduction: Since 2009, we have been finding the easiest Low Tech ways to cultivate mushrooms. Mushroom growing can be a complex process, but we believe that anyone can do it if they choose the right methods. So, we created GroCycle: an innovative social enterprise based in Devon, United Kingdom with a mission to teach everyone the easy way to grow mushrooms.

Innovation: GroCycle Urban Mushroom Farm was a unique and innovative urban agriculture project based in the city of Exeter (UK), that was operating between 2013 – 2017. In 2018 we moved our mushroom farm to a rural location near Totnes in Devon where we grow mushrooms for local sale, make mushroom kits and teach mushroom growing courses.

Impact: Mushroom growing doesn’t have to be a complex process; anyone can do it if they choose the right methods. You don’t need lots of expensive equipment, large amounts of space, or years of experience to grow mushrooms successfully.
