The Indus River Dolphin
The Indus River dolphin, or Bhutan is found in the Indus River between the Jinnah and otri Barrages. It is the 2nd most endangered species in the world. The Indus river dolphins are believed to have originated in the ancient Tethys Sea. When the sea dried up approximately 50 million years ago, the dolphins were forced to adapt to its only remaining habitat—rivers. They adapted to life in the muddy river. While are functionally blind, they rely on echolocation to navigate, communicate and hunt prey including prawns, catfish, and carp. The Indus River Dolphin is our mascot and symbol of innovation. It epitomizes resilience to adapt and innovate.

The Unicorn
The Unicorn is also found in Indus valley seals. The unicorn is the most common motif on Indus seals and appears to represent a mythical animal that Greek and Roman sources trace back to the Indian subcontinent. In modern times unicorns are the symbols of great opportunity, rarity and uniqueness. Private startup companies’ values at over USD 1 billion is a venture capitalists and many founders dream. For Startup Sindh, it represents our belief that Sindh is the first civilization where the Unicorn is mentioned. It also has potential, resources and opportunity to again become the emblem of where great startups can be grown and nurtured to become unicorns.
